An investment in your future

We understand a Wheaton College education is a substantial investment. But we want you to know the college is equally invested in making a Wheaton education within your reach.

That’s why 99% of Wheaton students who started in Fall 2022 received some type of aid from the College. In fact, the average institutional award for these students was over $42,000 – that’s grants and scholarships paid for completely from Wheaton’s own resources. Additional aid was awarded from federal and state sources.

Scholarships (merit-based awards)

Wheaton offers generous scholarships, with most new students in Fall 2022 awarded between $32,000 – $42,000 per year in a Wheaton Presidential Scholarship. These merit-based awards do not require a special application, and are awarded by the Office of Admission when a student receives their admission letter. These awards are renewable for all four years a student is at Wheaton College.

Wheaton also offers a select number of special scholarships that typically cover either full tuition or the full cost of attendance, such as the Posse Scholarship, Newbury Scholarship, and the Wheaton Refugee Scholarship, among others. These awards may require a special application. Speak with an admission counselor for more details.

Financial Aid (need-based)

Aid is also awarded to address financial need. Wheaton offers need-based awards funded by the College’s own financial resources, as well as from federal and state funding sources.

This financial assistance at Wheaton is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need. “Need” is determined by the financial information that you and your family provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Wheaton offers limited need-based financial aid to international students based on a combination of financial need and academic performance.

International applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid must complete the International Student Financial Aid Application after you apply for admission to Wheaton. This form will be located in your admission portal and is specific to you.

We encourage you to visit our Financial Aid Process & Deadlines page for more information.  A need-based package may include a merit scholarship, grants, loans or work award. The Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) provides all the resources you need to plan for this important investment.

And what about jobs on campus?

  • Typically, almost half of students hold jobs on campus, earning an average of $2,000.

Wheaton College is committed to principles of equal opportunity in admission of students, its educational programs and employment.
